You can rock out to your favorite song, even if you do not have an instrument. All you need is energy, rhythm, and imagination. Then, you are ready to play air guitar.
Air guitar is the art of pretending to play guitar. Instead of using a real instrument, people use their hands. They copy the motions of playing guitar while listening to their favorite songs.
This activity might sound silly, but there are actually several competitions for air guitarists. In fact, the Air Guitar World Championship was recently held in Finland.
Air guitarists from all over the world gathered to compete. In total, 16 people qualified for the championship competition. They were judged on their originality, stage presence, technical merit, and artistic impression.
Zachary Knowles, a 34-year-old man from Canada, took home the world title. He played air guitar to the song “Photograph” by Nickelback and then improvised another performance to Olivia Rodrigo’s “Obsessed.”
