Son Heung-min is the most famous soccer player from Korea. For 10 years, the star striker was the face of Tottenham Hotspur.

In early August, soccer fans received shocking news. Son announced that he was leaving Tottenham and the Premier League* in England.

“It was the most difficult decision of my career,” Son said.

The news was surprising because Son is a Tottenham legend. He received many individual awards and even helped his team win the Europa League* final in May.

Son made the announcement before Tottenham’s exhibition match at Seoul World Cup Stadium. Then, he put on the Premier League uniform one last time and said farewell to his teammates.

About a week later, Son began the next chapter of his career. He signed a big contract with Los Angeles FC (LAFC), a professional soccer team in the United States.

Now, he will try to lead LAFC to a championship title in Major League Soccer (MLS).* He will also get ready for the World Cup, which will take place in North America next year.
