BTS held their long-awaited comeback concert at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul on March 22nd, marking the group’s first performance together after completing their military service. The event drew over 100,000 fans in person and was streamed to 18.4 million viewers worldwide.
The concert was special because it signified the end of BTS’s almost four-year break due to South Korea’s mandatory military service. Jin was the first to enlist in December 2022, followed by J-Hope and Suga in 2023. RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook entered the military later, and all members completed their service by June 2025. With all seven members discharged, the group was finally able to reunite on stage.
Fans described the atmosphere as emotional and historic. Many waved light sticks and sang along, while others shed tears over seeing the group together again. The free concert at Gwanghwamun Square attracted 104,000 fans on-site, and millions more tuned in online. International fans traveled from around the world, filling hotels and shops in Seoul, showing the group’s global influence.
On stage, BTS opened with “Body to Body” from their new album “Arirang,” which mixes modern pop with traditional Korean sounds. They performed 12 songs, including new tracks like “SWIM,” “Hooligan,” and “Aliens,” alongside global hits such as “Dynamite” and “Butter.” Their stage outfits reflected Korean heritage, as they were inspired by Joseon-era military uniforms, which added cultural meaning to the show.
Looking ahead, BTS has announced an 82-show global tour following the Seoul concert. Their album “Arirang” sold nearly 4 million copies in 24 hours, topping charts worldwide. Fans and industry experts expect the group to aim for Grammy recognition while continuing both group and solo projects.
