Korean badminton star An Se-young has completed a Career Grand Slam, becoming the first Korean woman to win all four major singles titles. Her victory at the 2026 Asian Championships in China, held on April 12th, gave her the final trophy she needed for this historic achievement.

To achieve a Career Grand Slam, a badminton player must win in the Olympics, the World Championships, the Asian Games, and the Asian Championships. Few players in history have managed to capture all four, and An is only the second woman ever to do so after Spain’s Carolina Marin.

During the tense final match in Ningbo, fans cheered as An fought through long rallies, showing her trademark resilience and sharp footwork. Each point was met with applause, and the atmosphere grew electric as she closed in on her victory. When the last shuttle hit the floor, An raised her arms in triumph, and the crowd erupted in celebration.

An Se-young made her international debut in 2017 at age 15 and quickly gained attention for her speed and consistency, winning her first major title in 2019. Throughout her journey, she has faced injuries and other setbacks, but she has continued to train and improve her stamina and offensive skills.

Now, the 24-year-old player has reached the highest level of success in her sport. Her achievement is a proud moment for Korean badminton. The last Korean players to achieve a Grand Slam were men’s doubles legends Park Joo-bong and Kim Moon-soo, who did so in the early 1990s.

“Every time I step onto the court, I can truly feel how hard my opponents have prepared,” she said. “It gives me the strength to push forward and not fall behind.”
