On May 8th, the United States government released numerous previously classified documents. These documents detail UFO sightings, both recent and from the distant past.
Many hear the term “UFO” and think of alien spaceships floating across the night sky. However, the term actually stands for “unidentified flying object.” A UFO could be a shooting star, a satellite, or some other natural phenomenon.
The U.S. public has long been interested in these mysterious objects. According to the U.S. Secretary of Defense,* the reports were released to let “the American people see for themselves.”
The reports outline numerous instances of average people and military personnel witnessing UFOs. Some date back to the 1940s when strange objects were spotted in the sky.
One of the most noteworthy reports includes statements made by Apollo 11 astronaut Buzz Aldrin. In 1969, he described seeing a large, bright object near the lunar surface.
Although these instances have long sparked public curiosity, they are not conclusive evidence of extraterrestrial life. More investigation is needed before such claims can be made.
