The Sagrada Familia is a famous church in Barcelona,* Spain.* Architect Antoni Gaudi* began designing it in 1883.

Gaudi worked on this project for over 40 years. But he died when only 15 percent of the church was built.

After 144 years, the exterior of the church has finally been completed. Now, the Sagrada Familia is the tallest church in the world. This was a very big moment for Barcelona.

Today, people from all over the world are coming to see the church. However, work on the inside is still continuing.

About Gaudi

Antoni Gaudi was born in 1852. He loved nature and used shapes from plants and animals in his designs. The Sagrada Familia is his greatest and most famous work.

Special Towers

The church has 18 towers in total. Each tower represents a person from the Bible, including Jesus,* Mary,* and the 12 apostles. The tallest tower stands 172 meters high.
