On June 16th, a robot dog helped firefighters respond to a gas leak at a subway station in Seoul. The leak happened at Anam Station on Line 6. Carbon dioxide leaked from an underground substation during a fire safety inspection.

Instead of sending firefighters in right away, the emergency team sent the robot dog first. It entered the substation and moved through the dangerous area to check for gas and other hazards. This allowed firefighters to stay safely outside while the robot handled the risky job.

Thanks to the quick response, station staff safely evacuated everyone, and trains passed through Anam Station without stopping for about 20 minutes. No one was hurt, and normal service resumed soon after.

Robot dogs like this one are becoming valuable tools for emergency teams. They can enter places that are too dangerous for people, and South Korea plans to develop more of them for future emergencies.
